Experience and Background
Stuart Martin, a partner with Dechert LLP's Financial Services Group,
has more than 15 years of experience in advising on financial services,
asset management and related corporate finance work. Mr. Martin advises
on the establishment and structuring of asset management and financial
services businesses, financial products and related corporate finance
work. He advises on the establishment and structuring of retail and
institutional funds established in the UK and internationally (including
Europe, the United States and Asia) including emerging market funds,
hedge funds, multi-manager funds, property funds and venture capital
funds. Mr. Martin also regularly advises on fund mergers and re-organisation
involving UCITS and non-UCITS funds and UK investment trusts.
Mr. Martin practised as a solicitor until 1993 when he joined Baring
Asset Management as in-house counsel with responsibility for their investment
funds, later becoming head of the legal department before returning
to private practice.
He qualified as a solicitor in 1985.
Education
Mr. Martin graduated from Manchester University in 1981 (BA Hons) and
Chancery Lane College of Law in 1983.
